Wakefield Education Foundation

The purpose of the Wakefield High School Education Foundation, Inc. is to provide scholarships to graduating Wakefield seniors. Established in 1986, the Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are proud that, to date, we have been able to help one hundred and ninety-six Wakefield graduates attend college. Since the creation of the Foundation in 1986, we have given a total of $966,669 in scholarships and teacher grants." All of those funds were raised through contributions and interest income.

Volunteers do all of the work of the foundation and the only expenses are postage and printing. Because of this, the Foundation has historically been able to give over 107% of funds donated in scholarships.

Each spring a selection committee consisting of alumni from various Wakefield classes and current staff members review the scholarship applications and select award winners.

In addition, the Foundation maintains a database of Wakefield graduates and friends of Wakefield. The data is available to reunion committees.

It has been 25 years since Pete Arnston gave the first Wakefield scholarship. The 2011 class of scholars is shown below.
