Wakefield Class of 1992

Erica J. (Lipman) Lopez, Age 33

Erica became God’s newest angel when she lost her courageous fight against melanoma and died peacefully with family and friends on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Capital Hospice In-patient Center, Arlington, VA. Erica graduated from Wakefield in 1992, received numerous academic awards, as well as awards for her abilities on the soccer field, tennis court, and indoor track. She was also named Athlete of the Year in 1992.

Erica received her Bachelors from the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia and her Masters in Physical Therapy from George Washington University. Erica, a dedicated physical therapist, is survived by her beloved husband, Christian Lopez of Fairfax, VA , her father and mother, Arthur and Judith Lipman of Arlington, VA , her sister Janna Lipman of Alexandria, VA , and her brothers, Todd Lipman of Lexington, NC and Cory Lipman of Arlington, VA.

A celebration of her life will be held at Bethel United Church of Christ, 4347 Arlington Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22203 on Sunday, April 13, 2008 starting at 1:30 pm . The family requests that memorial contributions in Erica’s name be made to Melanoma International Foundation, Melanoma Research Foundation, or Capital Hospice.
