Wakefield Class of 1980

The Class of '80 thirty-year reunion was a huge success! On the weekend of July 30 - August 1, 2010, the Class of 1980 celebrated with a fun-filled weekend of activities! Classmates came from all around the United States, and across the border from Canada and across the ocean from Luxembourg! We also had guests from the classes of '77 - '83. The weekend kicked off with an Ice Breaker at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, O'Malley's Sports Pub in Tyson's Corner and lasted into the wee hours of the morning. Saturday morning brought relaxing around the hotel pool, sightseeing, going to Mario's for pizza, and getting ready for our BIG NIGHT!

The Reunion Dinner-Dance and Silent Auction took place on Saturday night at the Grand Atrium on Gallows Road in Vienna, Virginia. Alumni were greeted by the Reunion Committee and a special guest appearance of our Wakefield Mascot, Troy Godsey in full Warrior costume! Alumni from the Class of '78 and '79 helped with registration. Thanks goes out to Helen Chung Vasiliadis, Liz Kaufman Pierson, and Ijaz Mahboob. A beautiful slide show was put together by Cindy Altizer Duncan and was shown on the wall and a copy was given to each attendee along with a beautiful program put together by Scot Howard ('81). The Silent Auction benefited the Wakefield Education Foundation Scholarships. After dinner the Warriors "got down" to the funky jams of the DJ and the dance floor was filled all evening long! Alumni went back to the Crowne Plaza to continue the party afterwards.

Sunday afternoon Wakefield "Went Country" and enjoyed a potluck picnic at the Leesburg, Virginia farm of Mitch and Tina Davis. We all enjoyed the great sunshine, pleasant weather, beautiful scenery, swimming pool and hot tub, and of course getting together again to enjoy many more memories. The Class of '80 Reunion Committee was pleased that over 100 people joined us during this great weekend! The committee included the following members: Sabra Feder Decker, Cindy Altizer Duncan, Andre Pulliam, JJ Johnson Head, Philip Spicer, James Hughes, Kim Blakemore Perry, Mitch Davis and Patti Brown. We are looking forward to having a 35th reunion and possible 50th Birthday Celebration! We will be in touch. If you would like to send us your information contact Sabra at djsabra@hotmail.com.
