Wakefield Class of 1975

The '75 class reunion was featured in an August 18, 2010 Washington Post article by John Kelly. In the article, classmate Meg Graham Jaworowski said that the class had a reputation for being apathetic. But maybe it would be better to describe them as flexible. An example cited in the Post was their prom. The band they hired to perform showed up, but the band's instruments didn't because the truck they were in had been stolen. Classmates noticed an eight-track tape player on stage and went to their cars and found eight-tracks to play and the dancing began. That flexibility helped as the class planned their 35th reunion this year. They began by planning a traditional full-blown affair with dinner and dancing in a hotel ballroom. The economy resulted in classmates sending their regrets so organizers quickly decided that the food and venue weren't as important as the people. The dinner arrangements were canceled and instead a much more casual happy hour was planned. Attendees paid only for how much they ate and drank. Meg says "It was casual. I really do think, in hindsight, that it was so much more fun for everyone than it would have been. . . . This was like a cocktail party, people just chatting and laughing."
