Hard Times Cafe (on Thursday late afternoon agenda)
We've been there before, and it would be a shame if we didn't go there again as part of our festivities
during this milestone reunion. By the way, while we'll be celebrating 50 years since we were seniors
at Wakefield H.S., Hard Times will be celebrating 30 years of being in business.
The HARD TIMES CAFE link below will take you to the web page that will tell
you all about classmate Fred Parker's (and his brother Jim 's) restaurant. For those of you who will be in
town on Thursday afternoon-evening (Oct 7), Fred is going to treat all Class of 1960 50th Reunion attendees
to a complementary bowl of chili and a beer (or non-alcoholic beverage). Fred's generosity has reasonable
limits, so if you have a second beverage, or a second bowl of chili, or an appetizer, or some other entree,
or a salad, or desert, etc, that would be on you.
The Class of 1960 gathering will be at the ORIGINAL Hard Times at 1404 King Street, the corner of King and West
Streets in Old Town Alexandria, 3 blocks from the King Street Metro. We will commence at 4:30pm and wrap-up
at 6:00pm. Seating will be on the second floor, which has its own bar. Since the 2nd floor capacity is about
50, then if it looks like there is going to be a really big turnout, there will have to be 2 seatings (at 4:00, and
at 5:00) to accommodate. We'll deal with that situation if it arises. Be considerate of the servers.
You should calculate your tip as if the cost of the beer and beverage were a part of your check.
What better way to start off a memorable weekend, than being treated to some complementary and really good stuff
in a great atmosphere? See you there.

Fred Parker's restaurant.

Bus Tour of Arlington (on Friday morning's agenda)
How long since you've seen what there is to see in Arlington? There's something new to see almost daily. This extended tour
(with tour guide) will reacquaint you with our old "stompin' grounds" in comfort, as you catch up on what's come and what's gone.
At the conclusion of the Arlington tour, we'll be returned to the hotel for lunch. After lunch, a trip is scheduled out to the new (2003)
Air & Space Museum adjacent to Dulles Airport. It was originally thought that transportation there would be by bus, but this is undergoing
further review, in view of its close proximity to our reunion hotel. Stay tuned. The link to BUS TOUR below will take you to a web
page that will give you more info on our ride.

National Air & Space Museum: Udvar-Hazy Center (on Friday afternoon's agenda)
Everybody has been to the Air & Space Museum in D.C. on the mall. But many of you will not have seen its counterpart near
Dulles Airport. Udvar-Hazy is a much larger and more open space, providing a display space for air and space vehicles that could
never be squeezed into the original museum. For example, Udvar-Hazy has on display a complete Concorde, a complete space shuttle,
the Enola Gay, and literally thousands of things that you won't see just anywhere. The link below will take you to the web
page that will give you a foretaste of it all.

Evening Socializing in an informal/Club-Type Venue (on Friday evening's agenda)
Fortunately, our reunion hotel has a good space for us for this purpose, so we won't be out wandering the streets of
Adams-Morgan looking for a place to socialize. We'll give you an idea of what this will be like in next month's
update.
Our Alma Mater (on Saturday morning's agenda)
There will be no quiz, but you might want to familiarize yourself with what the Wakefield H.S. of the present day is like.
The school's web-site has a lot of interesting information, not least of which is on the "Wakefield Gear" page.

Eateries in Shirlington (on Saturday noon's agenda)
After the tour of Wakefield H.S. on Saturday morning, a good crowd of Warriors will be thinking, "What's for lunch"? Fortunately,
a short trip to Shirlington will solve that problem. There are 22 eateries to be found there, and it will be just one more
great chance to enjoy the company of classmates.

The Main Event (on Saturday evening's agenda)
In the reunion hotel's ballroom, will be the elegant main event: a nice sit-down dinner, and some good dance music and dancing.
There will be numerous display tables full of photos and memorabilia, and there will be miscellaneous diversions and entertainments
during the course of the evening.
And as usual, after the party there will be the after-party in the hospitality suite.
Since the venue isn't definite, we can't show you what the ballroom will look like. The best idea we can give you as to what the main
event will be like will be found at the link to our 2005 REUNION (45th). No pictures are currently posted there, but will be at next
update.
