Lois W. Steffey, 90, a longtime resident of Arlington, Virginia and recently, the District of Columbia, died on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Sibley Memorial Hospital as the result of a fall and fractured hip two weeks earlier at her residence at Thomas Circle in Washington, D.C.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Richard C. Steffey, on October 5, 2009, and by her sister, Evelyn E. Wilson, on July 8, 2004.  She was born and grew up in Rural Retreat, Virginia on March 22, 1924.

Lois taught Spanish and Latin at Wakefield High School in Arlington for many years until her retirement.  She was also actively involved in the life of The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church after she moved to the Washington area in 1948 and continuing until her death.  Mrs. Steffey is survived by a cousin, Janelle Hamric, of Largo, Florida.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, located at 1313 New York Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20005.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund or Music Fund.
