John William "J.W." Sipes Jr., 58, who sold audio systems and scuba diving equipment, died August 1, 2001 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington of a ruptured cerebral aneurysm.  Mr. Sipes was a native and resident of Arlington.  He attended Wakefield High School and Wake Forest University.  As a salesman of audio systems and scuba diving equipment, he combined his avocation and vocation.  Most recently, he worked for American Water Sports in Falls Church.  He also worked with Audio Associates in Arlington.  Survivors include his companion, Kathryn Lynn of Arlington; his mother, Frances Norton Sipes of Arlington; and a brother, Dr. James N. Sipes of Alexandria.
