Martha Miles Evans, 53, of Aston, Pennsylvania, who was involved in Christian ministry as
a missionary, college dean and teacher of Women's Bible studies, died September 4 at home.
Born in Washington, D.C., Mrs. Evans was a graduate of Washington Bible College in
1964 and lived in Washington before coming to Aston 11 years ago. She was active
with her husband's Christian Ministray and served as a missionary to Brazil as well as
dean of women at Washington Bible College for two years. Mrs. Evans also
taught school for three years at Cherrydale Christian School, Arlington, Virginia.
Presently, her ministry was teaching women's Bible studies, conferences and
retreats locally and in Great Britain. She attended Grace Bible Fellowship Church,
Wallingford. Surviving are her husband, Rev. Robert T. Evans; four sons, Rev.
Charles T. Evans of Philadelphia, Jonathan Evans of Washington, D.C., Lt. jg. James C.
Evans with the U.S. Navy in Seattle, Washington, and Mark Evans, at home: a daughter, Ruth
E. Evans, at home; her father, Dr. George A. Miles, President Emeritus of Washington Bible
College and the Capital Bible Seminary of the Washington, D.C. area; a sister, Grace
Hanshew of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and three grandchildren. A memorial service
will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Aldan Union Church, Providence Road and Clifton
avenue, Aldan, Pennsylvania. Burial is private. Arrangements are by the
Minshall-Shropshire Funeral Home of Middletown, Pennsylvania. Memorial gifts may be
