Travers Daniel Callaway, Jr., 55, passed away Thursday, April 9, 1998.  Mr. Callaway was born June 23, 1942 in Alexandria, Virginia.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Navy and a graduate of the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.  Mr. Callaway worked for Shell Oil for the past twenty-nine years, where he was on the Board of Directors for the sulphur industry the last fourteen years and was President for the Sulphur Institute.  As a long-time member of Bering Memorial United Methodist Church, Mr. Callaway participated in the Worship and Bering & Friends Committees, as well as being a Lector in the church.   He was also instrumental in writing the renewal of the Afton Oaks Civic Association, where he served as Vice President and President.  Survivors include his long-time companion, Billie T. Hale, Jr.; sister, Patricia Taylor and her husband Tim; niece, Catherine Taylor; nephew, Kendrick Taylor.  Friends are invited to a gathering with the family from 3:00 to 5:00pm Sunday, April 12, 1998 in the Drawing Room of the Settegast-Kopf Co.   A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm Monday, April 13, 1998 at Bering Memorial United Methodist Church, 1440 Harold, with the Rev. Marilyn Meeker-Williams officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bering Memorial United Methodist Church Trustees' Endowment Fund, 1440 Harold, Houston, Texas 77006.
