Wakefield/Arlington Organizations You May Wish to Support

ARLINGTON OUTDOOR EDUCATION ASSOCIATION

AOEA has been supported by many classmates in recent years, and Wakefield 1960 has also contributed to AOEA for us as a group.  As you can probably imagine, resources for providing county students educational opportunities regarding the natural environment are few and far between in Arlington.  AOEA helps develop understanding and appreciation in that regard, at a site some 30 miles from Wakefield H.S., out I-66 near Haymarket, Va.

Aware that our 50th Reunion is coming up, AOEA recently sent us the following thank-you and brief comments. 

The Arlington Outdoor Education Association Inc., would like to thank the members of Wakefield Class of 1960, who have remained committed to the community from which they received an important component of their education.  Generous contributions from thoughtful organizations and people, such as Wakefield 1960 alumni, have enabled the AOEA to continue to grow and better serve the Arlington community.

In 2008, the AOEA opened its newly built Outdoor Lab Building doors to all the students of Arlington Country - which now number more than 9,000!  The new building allows students a safe and enriching environment to learn about our natural environment, and gain valuable leadership skills.

The Outdoor Lab is owned and maintained by an all-volunteer board.  We continue to rely on people with Arlington interests to help us continue and further develop the Outdoor Lab.
